About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Transport Assistant to join our team at EMED Group. As a Community Transport Assistant, you will play a vital role in transporting SEND school children to their place of education, while also supporting our Patient Transport division in transporting elderly, sick, and vulnerable service users to and from their destinations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport SEND school children to their place of education, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Support our Patient Transport division in transporting elderly, sick, and vulnerable service users to and from their destinations, including medical appointments and healthcare facilities.
  • Build rapport with service users and their relatives/friends, effectively communicating their needs and requirements.
  • Responsible for lifting, securing, and helping service users in and out of the service vehicles, ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Assist with the handing over of service users to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment schools, centers, or hospitals.
  • Assist service users with challenging behavior and/or mental health illnesses, providing a calm and considerate approach.
  • Ensure the vehicles are kept safe, clean, and tidy, adhering to high standards of maintenance and hygiene.
Requirements
  • Full FREC 3 Training (Certificate in First Response Emergency Care)
  • Committed to Community Care and patient-centered approach
  • Effective communicator with experience in communicating with others in emotional circumstances
  • Calm, considerate, and careful driver with no more than three penalty points on your license
  • Natural flair for team working and collaboration
  • Physically fit for patient handling, wheelchair on/off boarding
  • Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company-funded)
  • Able to hold a PHV taxi license
  • Able to work flexible shifts
  • Familiar with the local and surrounding area
