About the Role

Currie & Brown is seeking a talented and ambitious individual to join our Exeter office as an apprentice quantity surveyor. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional construction projects and contributing to the company's mission of providing innovative and expert solutions to clients.

The successful candidate will embark on a part-time university course to gain a degree in quantity surveying, while working in the office for the remainder of the week. This unique opportunity will provide you with the ideal blend of academic and practical experience, enabling you to develop a deep understanding of the quantity surveying profession.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the production of feasibility cost estimates
  • Undertaking measurement and quantification using software solutions
  • Supporting the preparation of tender documentation
  • Reviewing tender documentation, which will initially involve data capture for benchmarking and future cost plans
  • Attending project/client meetings and taking minutes
  • Assisting in the delivery of professional services to clients in our cost consultancy teams
  • Recording pricing of variations and project changes

Requirements:

  • Experience using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel desired
  • Ability to adapt, working independently and as part of a team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Aptitude to learn and have a strong desire to become a chartered quantity surveyor
  • A team player with a 'can-do' attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible
  • Proactive in your approach to learning and working at the same time
