About the Role

Currie & Brown is seeking a talented individual to join our Exeter office as an apprentice quantity surveyor. This exciting opportunity will provide the successful candidate with the chance to work on high-profile construction projects and develop their skills in a dynamic team environment.

The successful applicant will attend university on a part-time basis, one day per week, to pursue a degree in quantity surveying, while working in the office for the remainder of the week. To be eligible for this role, candidates must possess the necessary school or college qualifications to gain entry onto a university course to study a BSc Quantity Surveying degree.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the production of feasibility cost estimates
  • Undertaking measurement and quantification using software solutions
  • Supporting the preparation of tender documentation
  • Reviewing tender documentation, which will initially involve data capture for benchmarking and future cost plans
  • Attending project/client meetings and taking minutes
  • Assisting in the delivery of professional services to clients in our cost consultancy teams
  • Recording pricing of variations and project changes

Requirements:

  • Experience using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is desired
  • Ability to adapt, working independently and as part of a team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Aptitude to learn and a strong desire to become a chartered quantity surveyor
  • A team player with a 'can-do' attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible
  • Proactive in your approach to learning and working at the same time
