About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our nursing team at St Austell Community Hospital as a Care Support Assistant or Healthcare Assistant.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, supporting patients with daily activities, and contributing to a positive and respectful team environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Providing general social interaction with patients, including talking, observing, and escalating concerns
- Supporting patients with meals, including preparation and service
- Assisting patients with personal care
- Supporting the wider team with domestic and housekeeping duties
- Meeting and greeting patients and visitors
- Putting away stock and supplies
- Carrying out and supporting other duties as required by trained and experienced staff
- Reporting any concerns or issues to the manager in charge
- Making and receiving telephone calls

Person Specification
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong commitment to patient care and a willingness to work as part of a team. You will also need to have the following skills and qualifications:
- GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent
- NVQ 2 in Health Care, or equivalent
- Clinical skills, such as venepuncture and blood transfusion
Working Hours
The working hours for this role will be a mixture of long days and night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, and night shifts.
