About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Private Rented Services Enforcement team as a Private Rented Services Enforcement Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating complaints and taking appropriate enforcement action in relation to Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs), unregistered landlords, the fitness and propriety of landlords, and the new licensing regime in relation to Short Term Lets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate complaints and take enforcement action against non-compliant landlords and HMOs
  • Provide advice on compliance with relevant legislation and licensing requirements to landlords, tenants, and other stakeholders
  • Work closely with partner agencies, including the Police, to deliver service priorities and excellent customer service
  • Interpret and apply complex legislation related to housing and licensing
  • Communicate effectively with a broad range of people, including members of the public, council officers, elected members, and businesses

Requirements:

  • Relevant knowledge and experience dealing with complex problems, investigation, and enforcement
  • Experience interpreting and applying complex legislation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A full valid driving licence
