Job Overview

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Higher Enforcement Officer to join our Environmental Protection Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of competency, service delivery, and professionalism in our Environmental Health Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce environmental regulations and laws to protect public health and safety
  • Conduct inspections and investigations to identify non-compliance with regulations
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to achieve service delivery goals
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve service delivery and reduce non-compliance
  • Provide training and guidance to colleagues on environmental regulations and enforcement procedures

Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications in Public Health, Noise Control, Contaminated Land, or Local Authority Enforcement
  • Proven experience in environmental enforcement or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
