Private Rented Services Enforcement Officer

Job Summary
This is a challenging and varied statutory role within the Private Rented Services Enforcement team at the City of Edinburgh Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating complaints and taking enforcement action in relation to Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs), unregistered landlords, and the fitness and propriety of landlords.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate complaints and take enforcement action in relation to HMOs, unregistered landlords, and landlord fitness and propriety
- Provide advice on compliance with applicable legislation and licensing requirements to landlords, tenants, and other stakeholders
- Work closely with partner agencies, including the Police, to deliver service priorities and excellent customer service
- Interpret and apply complex legislation to ensure compliance and enforcement
- Communicate effectively with a broad range of people, including members of the public, council officers, and businesses
Requirements
- Relevant knowledge and experience dealing with complex problems, investigation, and enforcement
- Experience interpreting and applying complex legislation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A full valid driving license
- Ability to work across the City of Edinburgh as required
