About the Role

As a Policy and Public Affairs Officer at Change Mental Health, you will play a critical role in shaping the organization's policy and influencing strategy. Your primary responsibility will be to connect with and influence politicians and senior decision-makers to create a society that is better for people with mental health challenges, mental illness, and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Policy Strategy: Work closely with the Director of Public Affairs and Communications to develop and implement a policy and influencing strategy that ensures the voices of people we support and their families are heard in all the places they need to be.
  • Manage Projects and Provide Reports: Manage projects related to mental health and provide reports on progress and outcomes.
  • Build Relationships and Represent the Organization: Build powerful relationships with politicians, civil servants, and partners, and represent the organization at various stakeholder events.
  • Respond to Consultations and Events: Respond on behalf of the organization to consultations and events, and stay up-to-date with policy developments in relevant fields.
  • Collaborate on Communications Documents: Collaborate on key communications documents and channels, including the newsletter, website, and social media channels.
  • Manage Events and Administration: Organize and undertake the administration of events that support the organization's policy platform, including events at party conferences, cross-party groups, and parliamentary receptions.
  • Network and Build Relationships: Network and build relationships with stakeholders across the private, third, and state sectors.
  • Support the National Rural Mental Health Forum: Support the work of the National Rural Mental Health Forum, organizing meetings and reporting on impact.
  • Comply with Legal and Regulatory Requirements: Comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including data protection legislation and health and safety regulations.
