Policy and Public Affairs Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy and Public Affairs Specialist to join our team at Changemh. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in connecting with and influencing politicians and senior decision makers to drive positive change for individuals with mental health challenges and their families.
In this challenging and rewarding role, you will work closely with our Director of Public Affairs and Communications to develop and implement a policy and influencing strategy that ensures the voices of our members and the people we support are heard at all levels.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a policy and public affairs strategy that engages with external stakeholders, disseminates key messages, and ensures the voices of our members and the people we support are heard at all levels.
- Ensure that Changemh has a robust policy and public affairs process to respond to events and consultations, set up meetings with influencers, write briefings, and record our interactions on the Lobbying Register.
- Collaborate with our team to develop key communications documents and channels, including our newsletter, website, and social media channels.
- Manage projects that improve the outcomes of those with poor mental health and wellbeing, engaging with parliamentarians and stakeholders to represent Changemh and advocate for our policy agenda.
- Take ownership of policy developments in fields relevant to Changemh's work, ensuring you are up to date and well-informed of recent developments.
- Write briefings for our Director of Public Affairs and Communications, CEO, and Board as needed.
- Network and build relationships with different stakeholders across the private, third, and state sectors.
