The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Higher Enforcement Officer to join our Environmental Protection Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of competency, service delivery, and professionalism in our Environmental Health Service.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce environmental regulations and laws to protect public health and safety
- Conduct inspections and investigations to identify non-compliance with regulations
- Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to develop and implement effective enforcement strategies
- Provide education and guidance to businesses and individuals on environmental regulations and best practices
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve environmental health services
Requirements
- Relevant qualifications and experience in public health, noise control, contaminated land, or local authority enforcement
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results
- Flexibility to work outside normal office hours, with some home working required
