We currently provide care to orphans and children from the most destitute situations in Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti.

As a Finance and Grants Officer, you will be responsible for administering the finances of COTN UK & Ireland, processing donations, gift aid, payments, international transfers, managing payroll, and preparing budgets and reports.

You will also play a crucial role in representing Children of the Nations at events, fundraisers, and conferences, ensuring consistent updating and adherence to the Common Chart of Accounts, and mentoring grantee staff in biblical principles of accounting, service, stewardship, and prayer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage completion of COTNI finance standards assessment with grantees and monitor corrective action progress.
  • Identify areas of training needed by grantee finance staff and facilitate the completion of this training according to an agreed schedule.
  • Provide consultation support for grantee finance staff, including supporting a full transition to QuickBooks Online.
  • Administer the finances of COTN UK & Ireland, process donations, gift aid, payments, international transfers, manage payroll, and prepare budgets and reports.
  • Represent Children of the Nations at events, fundraisers, and conferences as required.
  • Ensure consistent updating and adherence to the Common Chart of Accounts.
  • Mentor grantee staff in biblical principles of accounting, service, stewardship, and prayer.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience within an Accounting Role.
  • Excellent numerical skills with the ability to analyze data, statistics, and review budgets and expenditure.
  • Ability to run face-to-face and remote training and mentor international teams.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including evening working.
  • Full driving license (and access to a car).
  • Experience working for a charity or Christian mission agency in a similar finance role.
  • Payroll experience.
  • Knowledge of financial legislation relating to charities.
  • Proficiency in French and/or Spanish.
  • Willingness to travel internationally if necessary.
Salary:

£40,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
