Main Responsibilities:

As the Finance and Grants Officer at Children of the Nations, you will play a critical role in supporting our ministry's objectives. You will administer the finances of our organization, process donations, gift aid, payments, and international transfers. Additionally, you will manage payroll, prepare budgets, and reports.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage completion of COTNI finance standards assessment with grantees and monitor corrective action progress.
  • Identify areas of training needed by grantee finance staff and facilitate the completion of this training according to an agreed schedule.
  • Provide consultation support for grantee finance staff, including supporting a full transition to QuickBooks Online.
  • Represent Children of the Nations, particularly its Christian mission, to partners and at events, fundraisers, and conferences, when required.
  • Evaluate and maintain adherence to the Common Chart of Accounts.
  • Mentor grantees in biblical principles of accounting, service, stewardship, and prayer.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Accounting technician qualification (AAT/MIATI or equivalent) or part-qualified accountant (CAI/ACCA/ACA or equivalent).
  • Experience of international Christian ministry (in a paid or voluntary capacity).
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience within an Accounting Role.

Skills:

  • Excellent numerical skills with the ability to analyze data, statistics, and review budgets and expenditure.
  • Ability to run face-to-face and remote training and mentor international teams.
  • Strong computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including evening working.
  • Full driving license (and access to a car).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for a charity or Christian mission agency in a similar finance role.
  • Payroll experience.
  • Knowledge of financial legislation relating to charities.
  • Proficiency in French and/or Spanish.
  • Willingness to travel internationally if necessary.
