About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Complex Injury Paralegal to join our Complex Injury Team in Southampton. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the progression of complex injury claims from receipt of papers to resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality performance and meet performance targets and quality standards
  • Prepare and file court documents, diarise court orders and hearing dates, and liaise with experts and counsel
  • Liaise with insureds and witnesses regarding attendance at conferences, JSMs, and hearings, and draft witness summons
  • Liaise with courts regarding hearings, applications, and consent orders, and register and update CRU
  • Maintain experts' summaries, interim payment records, and offer history within the case management system
  • Arrange appointments for claimants to be seen by medical experts, chase for reports, and draft medical records mandates
  • Review medical records, draft summaries, and review photographic evidence and surveillance footage
  • Redact documents to ensure legal privilege and GDPR compliance
  • Field telephone calls, deal with general queries, and arrange payments
  • Conduct legal research and ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations
As Competency Increases
  • Prepare instructions to counsel, liaise with parties, and draft witness statements
  • Prepare disclosure lists, review third-party disclosure, and identify anomalies and inconsistencies
  • Attend client meetings, take notes, and draft non-strategic updates to clients
Requirements
  • Minimum education standard of 5 GCSEs grades 5 or above or A-C with an established interest in law
  • Experience of the litigation process, preferably in a file handling role
  • Good telephone and communication skills, with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks
  • Calm under pressure, with the ability to re-prioritise and delegate effectively
  • Self-confidence, with good literacy and IT skills
  • Good team worker, with the flexibility to do what is required to get a result and ensure client service levels are met
