About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Church Finance Specialist to join our team at the London Diocesan Fund. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in promoting generosity and sustainability within the Church of England.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive finance support to churches within the Stepney Area, aiding them in developing their ministries and managing their finances effectively. This includes:

  • Enabling churches to develop their respective ministries and manage their finances effectively
  • Providing finance and other appropriate training, support, resources, and advice to the clergy, PCCs, and parish officers
  • Assisting the Bishop, Archdeacons, and Area Deans in managing Common Fund giving by the churches in the Area
  • Facilitating and monitoring the award of grants and loans to churches from Area funds
  • Supporting the Area Bishop's staff team and Area Council in monitoring the use of Area resources, including post numbers, curate funding, and other matters

In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience of encouraging charitable giving and managing a wide variety of professional relationships. They will also possess strong administrative skills, including the use of Microsoft Office, and be comfortable working with financial data.

Key Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Numerate and financially astute – comfortable working with financial data
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • A good understanding of the ethos and mission of the Church of England and the role of parish clergy
