Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Occupational Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Gay Lea Foods. This is a challenging role that requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record in managing health and safety programs.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and embedding the health and safety agenda across our organization. You will manage the corporate health and safety program, provide education and training to employees, and implement H&S policies. Additionally, you will support effective management of the corporate health and safety program, work collaboratively with Operations and Supply Chain stakeholders, and drive safety awareness throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide site Health and Safety leadership and guidance.
  • Attend and support site Joint Health and Safety Committees.
  • Assist in maintaining the Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental compliance management system.
  • Coordinate and participate in internal and external health, safety & environmental audits and inspections.
  • Report on accidents, providing meaningful analysis to assist in continuously improving the workplace, health, safety, and loss control.
  • Track and coordinate all health, safety & environmental training programs.
  • Help coordinate environmental affairs: Environmental Approvals, Monitoring and Reporting, Hazardous Materials Management (waste material disposal), and Waste Management.
  • Work with construction contractors to increase safety awareness and improve safety practices by monitoring and inspecting sites to ensure HSE compliance, and conducting in-house training sessions where needed.
  • Maintain the health, safety & environmental bulletin boards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety or related field.
  • 4 years of experience as a Health, Safety and Environment Specialist or equivalent.
  • Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of health, safety & environmental regulations and related principles and practices.
  • Experience conducting adult training considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
Compensation

The salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $90,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
