Job Title: Senior Occupational Health Nurse Advisor

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Occupational Health Nurse Advisor to join our team at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Occupational Health Service, you will play a vital role in promoting the health, safety, and well-being of our employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of employee fitness to work, taking into account their medical history, work environment, and job requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to protect employee health at work, including the organization of vaccination clinics, vision screening programs, and workplace risk assessments.
  • Provide expert advice to management and employees on measures necessary to protect against physical, chemical, psychological, or microbiological hazards.
  • Represent the Occupational Health Service at committees, working groups, and site visits, and plan, organize, and undertake training.
  • Coordinate occupational health activities with other health, safety, and welfare services utilized by the employer and employee.
  • Support individuals with disabilities in both gaining and sustaining employment through the provision of specialized advice concerning fitness for work, phased return to work, and liaison with other health, safety, and welfare services.

Requirements:

  • Registered General Nurse with an Occupational Health Nurse Certificate/Diploma or BSc in Occupational Health related subject.
  • Experience in managing a caseload or customer contract, supervision, instruction, training, and support of OH nursing and administrative staff.
  • Knowledge of current UK recommendations on immunizations and communicable diseases management, and experience in using computers and programs.
  • Ability to communicate in spoken and written English to a standard commensurate with the post, and demonstrate a sound clinical judgment and communicate clearly the decision reached in keeping with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
