Senior Stress Liaison Engineer at Gulfstream Aerospace
Key Qualifications:
Essential qualifications for the Stress Liaison Engineer role:· Extensive experience in performing liaison responsibilities and conducting stress analysis to support aircraft structural modifications and repairs.
· Proven background in post-production liaison roles, MRB functions, or stress engineering for concessions.
· Strong capability in developing engineering instructions and documentation grounded in engineering principles.
· Significant experience in reviewing engineering schematics, conducting research, preparing calculations, and drafting comprehensive stress reports and troubleshooting guidelines for operational aircraft requiring swift return to service.
· In-depth knowledge of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14CFR), particularly Chapter I, Part 25, related to FAA regulatory procedures, with a commitment to assist in certification activities for both FAA and international airworthiness bodies.
· Familiarity with 14CFR 145 repair station operations and aircraft repairs as per 14CFR43 or UKCAA/EASA standards.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive approach to managing multiple priorities while meeting customer expectations.
· Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of engineers, technicians, Quality Control personnel, and management.
· Flexibility to transition between structural design, stress analysis, and troubleshooting tasks while adhering to project timelines.
· Experience with 3D modeling software (typically CATIA) for thorough engineering design reviews.
· Proficient in conducting analyses using classical hand calculations and basic Finite Element Modeling with FEMAP / PATRAN and Nastran.
· Familiarity with Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis methodologies and tools.
· Competence in developing and assessing composite repair strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in producing 2D repair schematics.
· Previous involvement with Gulfstream aircraft.
· FAA DER or ODA unit member status for 14CFR25 related aircraft structures.
· Familiarity with Structural Repair Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, and Aircraft Maintenance Manuals.
Responsibilities are carried out under the guidance of the Service Center Engineering Group Head to align with Engineering, Certification, and Manufacturing timelines.
Analysis techniques and design standards will conform to company policies and accepted practices. Additional duties are outlined in the job description and as assigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related technical field is required, along with experience in a specific technical discipline or broad engineering experience across various disciplines. Balances technical product requirements, cost considerations, and scheduling in problem-solving approaches. Operates with minimal supervision; work is evaluated from a long-term perspective for desired outcomes. Exercises discretion in determining technical objectives of assignments, making authoritative decisions and recommendations. Additional Functions: Keeps abreast of advancements in the specialty field and related aircraft domains to propose innovations that enhance the quality and effectiveness of company products. Performs other duties as assigned. Other Requirements: An advanced degree in engineering or a related field is preferred. The level of technical expertise and skills required for this position will be determined by each discipline.Additional Information
