Aircraft Structural Engineering Liaison Specialist II at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation
Key Competencies:
Essential qualifications for the Liaison Engineering role:·Extensive background in performing liaison responsibilities alongside stress analysis for aircraft structural modifications and repairs.
·Considerable experience in post-production liaison or stress engineering roles, including MRB and concessions stress engineering.
·Proficient in generating engineering documentation and instructions derived from fundamental engineering principles.
·In-depth experience in reviewing engineering schematics, conducting research, preparing calculations, and drafting comprehensive stress assessments and troubleshooting guidelines to facilitate rapid aircraft service recovery.
·Familiarity with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14CFR), particularly Chapter I, Part 25, regarding FAA regulatory procedures, and readiness to assist with certification processes for both FAA and international airworthiness authorities.
·Basic understanding of 14CFR 145 repair station operations and aircraft repairs in accordance with 14CFR43 or familiarity with UKCAA/EASA regulations.
·Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proactive approach to managing multiple priorities while meeting customer expectations.
·Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of engineers, technicians, Quality Control personnel, and management.
·Flexibility to transition between structural design, stress analysis, and troubleshooting tasks while adhering to project timelines.
·Prior experience with 3D modeling software (typically CATIA) for effective engineering design review.
·Capability to perform analysis using classical hand calculations and basic Finite Element Modeling with FEMAP / PATRAN utilizing Nastran.
·Experience with Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis methodologies and software applications.
·Expertise in developing and analyzing composite repair solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
·Experience in creating 2D repair schematics.
·Prior experience with Gulfstream aircraft.
·FAA DER or ODA unit member for 14CFR25 related aircraft structures.
·Familiarity with Structural Repair Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, and Aircraft Maintenance Manuals.
Responsibilities are carried out under the guidance of the Service Center Engineering Group Head to align with Engineering, Certification, and Manufacturing timelines.
Analysis techniques and design standards will adhere to company protocols and accepted practices. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary. Educational and Experience RequirementsA Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related technical field is required, along with experience in a specific technical discipline or broad engineering expertise across multiple areas. Position Objective: Facilitates the successful execution of significant engineering initiatives or conceives research in complex areas that support the development and production of Gulfstream products and services.Core ResponsibilitiesPrimary Duties:
- Identifies suitable methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to address intricate engineering challenges.
- Recognized as an authority in the field, frequently consulted by peers and others.
- Proactively anticipates and resolves complex issues creatively, establishing standards and guidelines for various engineering tasks.
- Balances technical product quality, cost, and schedule in problem-solving approaches.
- Operates with minimal supervision; work is evaluated from a long-term perspective for desired outcomes.
- Exhibits discretion in determining technical objectives and makes authoritative decisions and recommendations.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of advancements in the specialty field and related aircraft domains to propose innovations that enhance product quality and effectiveness.
- An advanced degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
- The level of technical expertise and skills appropriate for this position will be determined by each discipline.
