Aircraft Structural Engineering Liaison Specialist II at Gulfstream Aerospace
Key Qualifications:
Essential qualifications for the Liaison Engineering role:· Extensive background in both liaison responsibilities and structural analysis to support aircraft repairs, modifications, and enhancements.
· Significant experience in post-production liaison roles, MRB functions, or concessions stress engineering.
· Proven ability to generate engineering instructions and documentation grounded in engineering principles.
· Strong experience in reviewing engineering schematics, conducting research, preparing calculations, and composing detailed stress reports and troubleshooting guidelines for operational aircraft requiring swift return to service.
· In-depth knowledge of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14CFR), particularly Chapter I, Part 25, regarding FAA regulatory processes, along with a commitment to assist in certification activities for both FAA and international airworthiness authorities.
· Familiarity with 14CFR 145 repair station operations and aircraft repairs in accordance with 14CFR43 or UKCAA/EASA standards.
· Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proactive approach to managing multiple priorities while meeting customer expectations.
· Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of engineers, technicians, Quality Control personnel, and management.
· Flexibility to transition between structural design, stress analysis, and troubleshooting while ensuring adherence to project timelines.
· Experience with 3D modeling software (typically CATIA) for thorough engineering design reviews.
· Competence in performing analyses using classical hand calculations and basic Finite Element Modeling with FEMAP / PATRAN and Nastran.
· Familiarity with Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis methodologies and software applications.
· Skills in developing and assessing composite repair strategies.
Preferred Skills:
· Experience in creating 2D repair schematics.
· Previous experience with Gulfstream aircraft.
· FAA DER or ODA unit member for 14CFR25 related aircraft structures.
· Knowledge of Structural Repair Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, and Aircraft Maintenance Manuals.
Responsibilities are carried out under the guidance of the Service Center Engineering Group Head to fulfill Engineering, Certification, and Manufacturing timelines.
Analysis techniques and design standards will align with company protocols and recognized practices. Additional responsibilities are outlined in the job description and as assigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related technical field is required, along with experience in a specific technical discipline or broad engineering expertise across multiple disciplines. Balances technical product, cost, and schedule in problem-solving approaches. Operates with minimal supervision; work is evaluated from a long-term perspective for desired outcomes. Exercises discretion in determining technical objectives of assignments, making decisions and recommendations recognized as authoritative. Additional Functions: Keeps abreast of advancements in the specialty field and related aircraft domains to propose innovations that enhance quality and efficiency of company products. Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements: An advanced degree in engineering or a related field is preferred. The level of technical expertise and skills required for this position will be determined by each discipline.Additional Information
