Job Description

As a Cultural Inclusion Specialist with the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames, you will play a key role in developing and delivering diverse and inclusive arts programmes as part of our London Borough of Culture initiative.

Your primary responsibilities will include working with the award-winning Arts and Culture Service to develop, deliver, and monitor a range of ambitious arts programmes, with a focus on diversity, access, and inclusion. You will be a crucial support to the Programme and Partnership Manager, assisting in leading on diversity, access, and inclusion initiatives.

Key responsibilities include programme commissioning, grants support, advocacy work, and collaboration with artists, community groups, culture professionals, and Council departments. Your workload will be diverse, involving various arts projects, from programme development to community engagement and advocacy.

We are seeking an adaptable professional with experience in delivering disability-led arts programmes for and with people of diverse cultures and abilities. Your excellent project management and organisational skills, combined with your understanding of access needs and challenges, will be invaluable in this role.

Key qualifications include:

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills
  • Understanding of access needs and challenges of disabled, d/Deaf, and neurodivergent individuals, as well as those affected by long-term health conditions
  • Experience in supporting arts projects led by disabled and ethnically diverse artists and community groups
  • Strong communications skills and awareness of alternative communication techniques
  • IT literacy, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, and accessibility technology
  • Fundraising experience is a bonus
