About the Role

The Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Research and Innovation Support Officer (Non-Clinical). This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and changing environment, providing research and innovation support to major initiatives across the directorate and wider organisation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure high standards of research and innovation governance and coordinate and contribute to supporting the management of research and innovation projects and trials within the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust.
  • Operate efficiently and effectively to smoothly coordinate the day-to-day project management arrangements and functioning of projects and trials with Chief and Principal Investigators (C/PIs).
  • Provide excellent administrative support within the research and innovation department.
  • Act as a point of contact for a wide range of enquiries relating to research and innovation within the Trust.
  • Facilitate the transition of research and innovation projects from their development through to approvals and delivery.

Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
    • Experience of research project management.
    • Detailed knowledge of the Trust's organisation, functions, main objectives, and awareness of policies and procedures, and of the main issues and working environment of the R&D Department.
    • Knowledge of research governance framework and NHS R&D approval processes.
  • Desirable:
    • Commitment to further development through training/education.
    • Project management qualification such as PRINCE2 Foundation Qualification.
    • Understanding of research funding and clinical trial methodology.
    • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate and understanding of the principles of GCP as defined by Welsh Government.
    • Education to Masters level in a health or social science discipline or equivalent experience.

    • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate sensitive information appropriately to stakeholders.
    • Project administrative skills - maintenance of systems and processes such as highlight reports/exception reports.
    • Ability to work on own initiative and manage own workload.
    • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks with a range of complexity.
  • Desirable:
    • Ability to speak Welsh.
    • Detailed knowledge of the Trust's organisation, functions, main objectives, and awareness of policies and procedures.
