About The Role

This is a Fixed Term post until September 2025 working full-time.

Applications are invited for a laboratory research technician to join the immunology group at Swansea University Medical School. Swansea University Medical School ranks top 5 for research quality (REF2021) and is consistently ranked in league tables in the top 5 Medical Schools in the UK. We educate and train tomorrow's doctors and life scientists, offering an interdisciplinary approach to translational medicine. The post holder will support research activity that forms part of the NERC 'Future Clean Air Strategies' funding scheme, through the Relating environment-use Scenarios in Pregnancy/Infanthood and Resulting airborne-material Exposures to child health outcomes (RESPIRE) project. They will join a vibrant research group investigating the relationship between maternal exposures to air pollution in pregnancy and the programming of organ development and later disease in childhood. They will directly and indirectly support this research agenda and enhance the research capability of the wider immunology group at Swansea University.

This research laboratory technician will support biological sample handing and analysis for a Wellcome Trust funded project studying the effect of heat on maternal and neonatal health especially in deprived communities.

The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported to pursue career development opportunities.

Welsh Language Skills

The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 - A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1 hour course.
