About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Upholstery Technician to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a key member of our Rehabilitation Engineering Unit, you will play a vital role in providing essential fabric covering solutions for assistive technology equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and fabricate a range of equipment, including complex bespoke seating and cushion covers, posture support pads, and mattress overlays, to meet the specifications defined by clinical assessors.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to provide solutions for the management of posture and pressure problems.
  • Collaborate with Rehabilitation Engineers, Technicians, Clinical Scientists, Therapists, Nurses, and Administrators to support the provision of assistive technology services.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualification in textile crafts manufacture or upholstery (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in upholstery, tailoring, or dressmaking, with skills and knowledge in pattern taking and dart placement.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
