Upholstery Technician

We are seeking a skilled Upholstery Technician to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced technician to design and fabricate a range of equipment, including complex bespoke seating and cushion covers, posture support pads, and mattress overlays.
Main DutiesThe position is part-time (15 hours) with the potential for additional hours to meet service needs. The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Designing and fabricating equipment to meet the specifications defined by clinical assessors
- Working independently and as part of a team to achieve deadlines
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
- Providing high-quality workmanship and attention to detail
The ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant qualification in textile crafts manufacture or upholstery (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in upholstery, tailoring, or dressmaking
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A flexible attitude and ability to work to deadlines
The Rehabilitation Engineering Unit (REU) provides services to meet the complex needs of patients requiring engineering solutions to their wheelchair seating, mobility, and pressure ulcer care across South West Wales. The unit is situated within the Specialist Rehabilitation Centre at Morriston Hospital in Swansea, providing modern facilities and state-of-the-art technologies.
