Role Overview
The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated and experienced Specialist Vascular Nurse Practitioner to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and make a real difference in the lives of patients.
About the Role
This Specialist Practitioner post will enable the successful candidate to take on significant autonomy, working independently with complex and frail patients. You will be responsible for aspects of the provision of high-quality specialist nursing care mainly in an outpatient capacity, providing expert advice and support for patients diagnosed with vascular conditions.
You will act as an expert resource for both nursing and medical staff, providing advice, support, and education through clinical practice and evidence-based development. Close liaison and appropriate referral between all relevant departments, the lead clinician, and other services, including community teams, will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Independent clinics undertaking comprehensive consultations in vascular patients with claudication, chronic venous insufficiency, and chronic limb-threatening ischemia
- Presenting patients at multidisciplinary meetings
- Liaison between primary and secondary care services, including general practice, community nursing teams, podiatry, lower limb therapy, and other relevant specialties
- Breaking bad news and discussions surrounding palliative and end-of-life care planning
- Health promotion
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have prior experience in a role with independent decision-making and excellent interpersonal skills. A degree or equivalent qualification in nursing or a related field is required, along with relevant postgraduate qualifications or certifications. The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and maintain confidentiality is essential.

Working Pattern
This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week. You will be expected to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
