Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Intermountain Healthcare. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in processing medication electronic prior authorization requests, troubleshooting coverage issues, and communicating ePA results to patients and stakeholders.

About the Role

This is a full-time remote position that requires living in Colorado or Montana. You will work normal clinic hours, Monday through Friday, with no holidays. Your primary responsibilities will include:
  1. Evaluating and processing electronic prior authorization medication requests from various stakeholders, researching and resolving prior authorization outcomes, and documenting them in the pharmacy system.
  2. Communicating selected prior authorization criteria, pharmacy benefit coverage, and formulary alternatives to physicians, physician's office staff, medical management staff, and/or pharmacists.
  3. Escalating requests to Pharmacists when they require extensive clinical review or denial.
  4. Researching, resolving, and documenting physician or client inquiries and grievances, and providing verbal or written results to clients, prescribers, providers, and/or management.
  5. Completing assigned ePA tasks each day and communicating issues and workflow problems to pharmacy leadership for quick resolution.
  6. Working as a member of the Pharmacy Call Center team and fostering a collaborative team-oriented work environment.
  7. Participating in improvement initiatives and implementing new processes and procedures, coordinating orientation and training for new associates, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and departmental policies.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in Colorado (within 90 days of hire) and Montana (within 90 days of hire).
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification.


Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or retail setting is preferred. You should also possess excellent problem-solving skills, great customer service, and teamwork abilities. Additionally, you should be able to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team.
