About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Project Engineer to join our team at SSE, a leading energy company in the UK. As a key member of our Transmission team, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and delivery of our high-voltage transmission network.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Life Cycle Management: You will be involved in the full project life cycle, from project definition to project completion, ensuring that all engineering and quality risks are identified and mitigated.
  2. Technical Scope Development: You will create technical scopes, site location plans, primary plant layouts, and single line diagrams for new build and asset replacement type projects, operating up to 400kV.
  3. Design Review and Quality Assurance: You will review contractor/consultant detailed designs and witness factory acceptance testing to ensure that all designs meet our quality and safety standards.
  4. Site and Operational Support: You will work closely with site and operational teams to ensure the quality of installations, with minimal risk to network security.
  5. Engineering and Quality Risk Management: You will work closely with Engineering Managers and Project Managers to ensure that engineering and quality risks are identified and mitigated.

Requirements:

  1. Technical Knowledge: You will have a good awareness of the technical functions in Transmission, along with an appreciation of legal and regulatory obligations and project governance and engineering processes.
  2. Legislative Awareness: You will have an understanding of the legislation and implications of such for the management of the Transmission network for both Assets and Projects, including CDM & ESQCR.
  3. Education and Experience: You will preferably hold or, with past work experience, be working towards a degree or masters in an appropriate engineering discipline depending on the level of position applied for.
