Role Overview

SSE Enterprise is seeking a skilled Construction Site Operations Manager with extensive experience in overseeing large-scale high voltage transmission initiatives.

In this position, you will serve as the primary representative of SSE Enterprise on-site, acting as the main point of contact for all site-related matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Managing earthworks, civil and structural construction, and the installation of major electrical components, including GIS and AIS substations, transformers, cables, and other essential supplies.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, including health and safety standards, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Collaborating proactively with contractors and the operations team to guarantee that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the established timeline.
  • Monitoring site activities to ensure adherence to planning permissions and SHE legislation, while preparing detailed reports and key performance indicators for the Project Manager.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, and the local community, fostering a collaborative and safety-focused work environment.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Extensive experience in site management or construction oversight related to civil, mechanical, and electrical activities in high voltage substations or similar industrial settings.
  • A comprehensive understanding of engineering and construction standards, particularly safety and CDM regulations.
  • Experience managing complex construction projects within the utilities or electrical installation sectors. A higher national diploma in engineering or construction management (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with NEC contract forms and prior experience in the role of NEC Supervisor.
  • Strong leadership skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and excellent planning, organizational, and communication abilities.

A valid driving license is required due to the necessity of traveling to various sites.
