Job Title: Income Officer

We are seeking an experienced Income Officer to join our team, responsible for maximizing our income through effective rent collection, service charge management, and other revenue streams. As an Income Officer, you will work closely with our residents, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure timely payment of rent and service charges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and manage rent arrears, including service charges, parking, and other housing-related debts.
  • Manage the Direct Debit process, including creation, amendment, and closure.
  • Liaise with local authorities and the Department of Work and Pensions regarding Housing Benefit and Universal Credit claims.
  • Chase progress of Housing Benefit and Universal Credit applications and overpayments where necessary.
  • Prepare and serve notices, possession proceedings, formal demands, and County Court Judgments.
  • Represent SW9 in rent and service charge-related cases at Court and First-Tier Tribunals.
Arrears Prevention:
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents, ensuring they are aware of their responsibility to pay rent and service charges on time.
  • Advise residents on preventative action to avoid falling into arrears and offer guidance on welfare benefits.
  • Keep up-to-date with legislation and best practices on arrears collection and prevention.
General:
  • Work in partnership with other customer-facing teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Process balance transfers and refunds as required.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints and informal comments about service delivery.
  • Be flexible with working hours to meet the needs of residents.
