Job Title: Clinical Care Practitioner for Adults with Learning Disabilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning Disability Nurse to join our team on a 24-month fixed term contract. The successful candidate will work with adults with complex needs, including mental health problems, challenging behaviour, epilepsy, and continuing healthcare.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a difference in the lives of adults with learning disabilities. As a Clinical Care Practitioner, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care, ensuring all work is needs-led, evidence-based, and in line with current legislation.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality clinical care to adults with learning disabilities, including those with complex needs.
  • Provide clinical supervision and appraisals of nursing staff within the team.
  • Support the development of services in line with the workstreams that focus on mental health, forensic, physical health, neurodevelopmental conditions, and cognitive impairment.
  • Supervise students while on placement with the team.
Requirements:
  • A reasonable amount of post-qualifying experience working with adults with learning disabilities in a community setting.
  • Direct experience working with clients with complex needs, including challenging behaviour, epilepsy, mental health problems, and continuing healthcare.
  • Clinical supervision of staff.
  • Delivery of training to other staff, service users, and carers.
  • Awareness of relevant legislation and good practice relating to learning disabilities.
