Job Description:
We are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to work at a large SEND school based in Peterlee. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a range of SEND, a high level of autonomy, and the ability to adapt. The school has ages ranging from 2 to 19 years old with a diverse range of special educational needs.
The school prides itself on being a warm and welcoming academy that helps to secure the best possible outcomes for their students. With their latest Ofsted report rated as "Good", they have significantly improved over the years to create a vibrant, enjoyable, and inclusive space for children.
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, and is a long-term position given a successful trial. The successful candidate will have:
- An enhanced DBS or be willing to gain one
- An educational background or work experience relevant to the position, i.e., teaching assistant, nursery practitioner, or support worker
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- An adaptability and commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students
- A good knowledge of EHCPs
- Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
- Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
