Main Responsibilities:

As a key member of the Northampton General Hospital team, you will play a crucial role in the implementation and optimization of our Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system. Your expertise in clinical terminology and data integration will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless operation of our EPR solution.

Key Duties:
  1. Lead Subject Matter Expert: Provide expert advice and support to teams and stakeholders on SNOMED-CT terminology and ICD-10/11 & OPCS-4 classifications.
  2. Design and Implementation: Ensure the efficient design, build, implementation, testing, and delivery of classifications and terminology functions associated with the EPR.
  3. Data Mapping and Transformation: Develop and maintain mappings and references sets between healthcare-related data and clinical classifications and terminology systems.
  4. Stakeholder Engagement: Lead on the engagement of relevant teams and stakeholders to ensure classifications and terminology functions operate to their optimum potential.
  5. Compliance and Governance: Ensure alignment of classifications and terminology functions to national and local mandatory classifications and terminology standards and rules.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Perform continual review of the integration and implementation of classifications and terminology functions across the EPR delivery.
  7. Service Delivery Monitoring: Ensure effective service delivery monitoring is in place for requisite EPR modules.
  8. Collaboration and Training: Work closely with colleagues to enable an innovative and effective implementation of all aspects of the classifications and terminology systems.
  9. Information Governance: Collaborate with the Data Security and Protection team to ensure the alignment and compliance of the classifications and terminology functions to mandatory Information Governance and Data Security & Protection standards.
  10. System Integration: Collaborate with relevant colleagues to ensure the effective integration of the classifications and terminology systems with other systems across the Trust and the wider ICB and Group.
  11. Reference Sets and Data Mapping: Develop and validate reference sets, data mapping, and transformation of healthcare data into the integration service and/or data warehouse.
  12. Encoded Healthcare Data: Work with stakeholders to analyse and transform encoded healthcare data.
  13. ITIL Best Practices: Promote and utilise Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices throughout your role.
  14. Clinical Risks: Identify, mitigate, and manage any clinical risks associated with the integration and use of classifications and terminology functions in relation to electronic patient records.
  15. Contribution to EPR Implementation Programme: Proactively and positively contribute to the overall EPR implementation programme by engaging in appropriate planning, development, and delivery working groups.
  16. Financial Performance: Contribute to the improving financial performance of NGH by facilitating a timely delivery of high-quality encoded activity.
  17. Change Management: Advise and provide support with change management requirements associated with the introduction and development of the EPR.
  18. Progressive Solutions: Challenge existing practices, ensuring that progressive solutions, which consider models of best practice, are incorporated into service plans.
