Main Duties:

As a key member of the Northampton General Hospital team, you will play a crucial role in the implementation of our new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) solution. Your expertise in SNOMED-CT terminology and ICD-10/11 & OPCS-4 classifications will be essential in providing guidance and support to our teams and stakeholders throughout this process.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the design, build, implementation, testing, and delivery of classifications & terminology functions associated with the EPR, ensuring efficient and optimal performance.
  2. Develop and maintain mappings and references sets between healthcare-related data and clinical classifications & terminology systems.
  3. Engage with relevant teams and stakeholders to ensure classifications & terminology functions operate to their optimum potential, delivering high-quality and accurate coded data.
  4. Align classifications & terminology functions with national and local mandatory standards and rules, ensuring a clean and structured output of data.
  5. Continually review the integration and implementation of classifications & terminology functions, developing improvement plans and leading on their delivery.
  6. Monitor service delivery and ensure effective reporting through up-to-date dashboards.
  7. Collaborate with colleagues to implement innovative and effective classifications & terminology systems.
  8. Work with the training team to deliver relevant training to stakeholders.
  9. Ensure compliance with Information Governance and Data Security & Protection standards.
  10. Integrate classifications & terminology systems with other systems across the Trust and wider ICB and Group.
  11. Develop and validate reference sets, data mapping, and transformation of healthcare data.
  12. Analyse and transform encoded healthcare data with stakeholders.
  13. Promote ITIL best practices and identify, mitigate, and manage clinical risks associated with classifications & terminology functions.
  14. Contribute to the overall EPR implementation programme and improve financial performance by facilitating timely delivery of high-quality encoded activity.
  15. Advise on change management requirements and challenge existing practices to incorporate models of best practice.
