About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Specialist Pharmacist to join our Elective Surgical Admissions team at Northampton General Hospital. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a vital role in providing pharmaceutical care to patients undergoing elective surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of medicines management policies and procedures in the perioperative setting.
  • Provide specialist pharmacy input into theatre areas, including the optimisation of medicines and the identification of new opportunities for pharmacy services.
  • Support the training of medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff in the perioperative setting.
  • Participate in the clinical advisory pharmacy service, providing advice and guidance on the safe and effective use of medicines.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of countywide and local prescribing strategies within the trust.
Requirements
  • BPharm or MPharm degree.
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Post-registration clinical pharmacy experience within a hospital setting, including experience in at least four of the following specialties: medicine, surgery, paediatrics, or oncology.
  • Teaching, supervising, and training staff.
  • Computer skills, including databases.
