Overview:
Old Dominion University seeks an exceptional leader to assume the role of Chief Nursing Officer, School of Nursing. This pivotal position presents an extraordinary opportunity for a forward-thinking individual to influence the trajectory of the School of Nursing as it integrates with the Eastern Virginia Medical School. The selected leader will be responsible for the comprehensive oversight of educational programs, research initiatives, community service, and administrative functions within the School of Nursing, significantly contributing to the advancement of its mission and core values.

Key Responsibilities:
The Chief Nursing Officer will be tasked with:
  • Guiding the seamless incorporation of the School of Nursing into the Eastern Virginia Health Sciences Center
  • Formulating and implementing a strategic vision for the School of Nursing
  • Enhancing student enrollment and diversifying program offerings
  • Recruiting and nurturing a faculty renowned for excellence in both teaching and research

About the School of Nursing:
Located at the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center, the School of Nursing features state-of-the-art facilities and provides a vibrant educational atmosphere for nursing students. Opportunities for clinical practice are available throughout southeastern Virginia, offering a broad spectrum of experiences for students.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proven leadership and administrative experience within a School of Nursing environment
  • Strong academic credentials supporting a faculty appointment at the full professor level
  • Demonstrated success in attracting and developing a diverse workforce
  • Established national recognition in nursing education and research
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Capacity to cultivate and sustain robust relationships

Preferred Qualifications:
A PhD is preferred; however, candidates holding a DNP, EdD, or an equivalent degree will also be considered.
