Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Health Nurse to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Public Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing professional nursing care to patients in clinics, homes, and schools, as well as other community or congregate care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing care to patients, including performing nursing assessments, administering medication, and developing and implementing care plans.
  • Participate in public health emergencies and community health assessments.
  • Supervise support staff and ensure that all nursing care is provided in accordance with established standards and protocols.
Requirements
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Virginia or a compact state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a public health setting or one related to disease prevention and health promotion.
  • Additional study in health promotion or public health.
