Job Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking an exceptional leader to assume the role of Chief Nursing Officer, School of Nursing. This position presents a remarkable opportunity for a forward-thinking individual to influence the trajectory of the School of Nursing as it integrates with regional health education initiatives. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing all dimensions of education, research, service, and administration within the School of Nursing, playing a pivotal role in promoting the institution's mission and core values.

The Chief Nursing Officer will spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, propel research endeavors, cultivate interprofessional education, and fortify community partnerships. Central to this role will be collaboration and transparent communication, as the Chief Nursing Officer engages closely with faculty, staff, and students to achieve collective objectives and foster innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitating the seamless integration of the School of Nursing into broader health sciences initiatives
  • Formulating and implementing a strategic vision for the School of Nursing
  • Enhancing student enrollment and expanding program offerings
  • Recruiting and developing a faculty recognized for excellence in both teaching and research

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proven leadership and administrative experience in a nursing education environment
  • Strong scholarly credentials that support a faculty appointment at the full professor level
  • Demonstrated success in attracting and nurturing diverse talent
  • Established national reputation in nursing education and research
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capacity to build and sustain strong professional relationships
Preferred Qualifications:
While a PhD is preferred, candidates with a DNP, EdD, or equivalent qualifications will also be considered.
