Overview:
Old Dominion University is seeking an innovative leader to assume the role of Chief Nursing Officer, School of Nursing. This position presents a remarkable opportunity for a forward-thinking individual to influence the trajectory of the School of Nursing amidst the integration of Old Dominion University and Eastern Virginia Medical School. The chosen candidate will be responsible for overseeing all facets of education, research, service, and administration within the School of Nursing, playing a pivotal role in promoting the school's mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitating the integration of the School of Nursing into the Eastern Virginia Health Sciences Center
  • Formulating and implementing a strategic vision for the School of Nursing
  • Enhancing student enrollment and expanding program offerings
  • Recruiting and developing a faculty renowned for excellence in teaching and research

Located at the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center, the School of Nursing features state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant learning atmosphere for nursing students. Clinical practice opportunities are accessible throughout southeastern Virginia, providing a diverse array of experiences for students.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proven leadership and academic administration experience in a nursing education environment
  • Strong scholarly background supporting a faculty appointment at the full professor level
  • Demonstrated success in attracting and nurturing diverse talent
  • National recognition in nursing education and research
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to cultivate and sustain strong relationships
Preferred Qualifications:
While a PhD is preferred, candidates with a DNP, EdD, or equivalent degree will also be considered.
