About the Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary leader to serve as the inaugural Dean of our School of Nursing. As a key member of our academic leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of nursing education and research at the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the School of Nursing, aligning with the mission and vision of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Lead the integration of the School of Nursing into the newly formed Eastern Virginia Health Sciences Center, ensuring a seamless transition and maximizing opportunities for growth and collaboration.
  • Grow student enrollment, including the development of new programs and partnerships, to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare industry.
  • Build and maintain a faculty recognized for excellence in teaching, research, and practice, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Proven leadership experience in a senior administrative role, with a track record of success in academic administration, leadership, and management.
  • Professional accomplishments and scholarly productivity that support a faculty appointment with an academic rank at the full professor level.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact collegially with faculty and staff at various levels.
  • Ability to interact with alumni and relevant internal and external constituents, promoting the School of Nursing and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in a top-ranked School of Nursing, with a demonstrated record of success in attracting, retaining, and developing outstanding students, faculty, and staff.
  • National reputation as an outstanding educator/investigator/clinician in nursing, with a documented capability and commitment to champion nursing research, education, and practice in an academic health sciences center.
