Education and Employment Opportunities
This role is part of the Department of Children's Services and is focused on providing education and employment opportunities for deaf children with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support special school teachers, early years settings, and parents/carers in developing and managing approaches and provision for deaf children with additional needs.
- Optimise outcomes for deaf children with complex needs using a thorough understanding of special school curriculum to carry out planning, assessment, teaching, training, and support for staff.
- Provide balanced, unbiased support and advice to families to enable them to make informed choices for their deaf children.
- Work in partnership with other agencies involved in services to deaf children.
Applications are welcome from experienced and qualified Teachers of the Deaf. However, we would be happy to consider outstanding qualified teachers with substantial experience teaching children with severe and profound additional complex needs who are looking to develop their career in working with deaf children.
The service would be willing to support the successful candidate to undertake training to achieve the mandatory qualification.
