Specialist Physiotherapist

Honiton, Devon, United Kingdom Devon Partnership NHS Trust Full time
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our East Specialist Health Community Learning Disability Team. As a specialist physiotherapist, you will work with adults with complex physical health needs, providing evidence-based treatment programmes and training family and carers in postural management.

The team provides a client-focused community-based service to adults with learning disabilities and complex health needs. This is a brilliant opportunity to diversify your skill set and gain experience in working with adults with learning disabilities, developing your knowledge of reasonable adjustments, hydrotherapy, postural management, and specialist equipment.

As a member of the Devon-wide specialist physiotherapy team, you will work closely with other multi-disciplinary team members, carers, and services to enable community inclusion and promote independence through reducing reliance on paid support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist physiotherapy for adults with learning disabilities, assessing and developing treatment programmes to meet their complex needs.
  • Work closely with other team members, carers, and services to promote community inclusion and independence.
  • Develop and implement postural management plans, training family and carers in 24-hour postural management.
  • Participate in hydrotherapy, postural management clinics, and work closely with senior physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and students.
Person Specification

We are looking for an experienced physiotherapist with a clear understanding of the role of physiotherapy within a multidisciplinary team. You will have a sound knowledge and application of physiotherapy theory, as well as experience of working with adults with learning disabilities.

You will be able to work autonomously, seeking guidance as necessary, and be independently mobile across a geographical area. You will also be able to work effectively under rapid-changing and demanding conditions with occasional interruptions.

We are committed to developing a culture of coproduction, involving patients, families, and carers in everything we do. We strive to use the expertise and resources within our organisation, and through our partnerships, to deliver high-quality services that are safe and focused on people's recovery.
