Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Operations Controller. In this role, you'll be responsible for supporting the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring that all schedules for inbound receipts and outbound loads are run efficiently.

Schedule and Shift Pattern

You will work on a 4 on, 4 off night shift pattern, from 18:00-06:00. This schedule offers a great work-life balance and allows you to recharge during your days off.

Salary and Benefits

The annual salary for this position is approximately £30,530, plus a shift allowance of £2,000. Our competitive compensation package also includes:

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities as an Operations Controller will include:

  • Efficiently managing the outbound schedule to ensure collection and delivery times are met
  • Issuing instructions to designated staff to maintain a smooth flow of inbound and outbound work
  • Controlling paperwork for outbound vehicles to ensure 100% accuracy
  • Being the initial point of contact for all drivers arriving on site
  • Communicating issues to the Shift Manager in a timely manner to minimise disruption to the schedule
  • Participating as an active member of the operations team, offering suggestions for solving problems, improving efficiency, customer and quality focus
  • Maintaining good communication with transport providers to avoid late collections and delivery failures
  • Producing a thorough, detailed handover to the following shift highlighting potential issues, reminders, and the current state of play
Requirements

To succeed as an Operations Controller at Great Bear, you'll need:

  • Ability to prioritise work based on scheduling and available resources
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An in-depth knowledge of on-site systems
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience and good working knowledge of Autostore and RF kit
  • PC literacy in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills and problem-solving abilities
