Trauma Caseworker

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Trauma Caseworker to join our award-winning youth violence service at the Royal London Hospital. As a key member of our trauma team, you will work closely with clinicians and hospital staff to provide support for young people admitted to the Major Trauma Centre.
Your primary responsibility will be to provide a comprehensive and holistic assessment, advice, referral, and support service to young victims of violence. This will involve identifying and addressing the needs of these young people, exploring innovative and effective ways of supporting them, and reducing their risk of re-victimization.
You will produce support and risk management plans based on your assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process. Additionally, you will develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies, delivering a holistic support service that includes social and housing support, accompanying to appointments, benefits work, debt advice, liaising with utilities, appearing in court, and cleaning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a comprehensive and holistic assessment, advice, referral, and support service to young victims of violence
- Identify and address the needs of young people, exploring innovative and effective ways of supporting them
- Produce support and risk management plans based on assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration
- Develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies
- Deliver a holistic support service, including social and housing support, accompanying to appointments, benefits work, debt advice, liaising with utilities, appearing in court, and cleaning
Requirements
- Personal experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group, and/or experience of working with 'high risk,' vulnerable children, young people, and/or families
- Substantial experience of providing support, advice, and advocacy
- Substantial experience of supporting CYP and assessing the needs of children and young people who are at risk of significant harm
- An understanding of how trauma impacts on a young person and what that can look like
- A relevant qualification to a good standard or be working towards one
- A knowledge of relevant services for young people and their families in the service provision area
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills, both verbal and written
