Job Title: Contract Manager

We are seeking an experienced Contract Manager to join our team at Toppesfield Ltd. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading surfacing projects within our South region, ensuring that work is completed on time, to client satisfaction, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage efficient project programmes that meet with client expectations and ensure optimal utilisation of all labour.
  • Plan project resources, including plant, labour, and materials, as well as agreeing any site layout and welfare facilities.
  • Forward plan works to remove peaks and troughs for production.
  • Manage operational issues raised by clients, attending meetings to discuss defects where required.
  • Collect and collate monthly material forecasting, ensuring management of maximum material outputs.
  • Develop and maintain key client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for contract-related matters, addressing concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Identify lost and non-active clients and develop relationships for future work opportunities.
  • Work closely with the QS to ensure the team maximises financial returns on all aspects of the contract, taking steps to minimise risk, protect commercial interests, and maximise profit.
  • Manage operational employees, ensuring the continuous development of skills by understanding training needs analysis.
  • Write health and safety plans, method statements, and risk assessments, ensuring that all sites have the appropriate documentation.
  • Carry out site inspections and audits in line with company requirements.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, team members, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation skills on prime contracts.
  • Commercial awareness, with a focus on controlling cost and optimising value.
  • Excellent people management skills, with the ability to influence and mentor.
  • Problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
