Role Overview

Turner & Townsend is thrilled to announce an opportunity for a Project Cost Consultant to join our Newcastle Real Estate division. This role involves guiding our clients and their professional teams through a variety of exciting and landmark projects throughout the Northeast.

The ideal candidate will possess a genuine interest in understanding historical construction methods and their implications for contemporary contractors. You will collaborate daily with leading conservators, architects, and engineers to ensure that both client and contractor achieve optimal value for their investments, providing advice on the best qualitative and commercial solutions.

We seek individuals who are enthusiastic about this field and have a solid understanding of construction, whether from a Main Contracting or Quantity Surveying background, and who demonstrate a collaborative and engaging approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Management of commissions, including:

  • Assisting with feasibility assessments and drafting procurement reports
  • Estimating and cost planning, including the development and presentation of the final cost plan
  • Managing the tendering and procurement process, including overseeing the pre-qualification phase
  • Effectively addressing post-contract cost discrepancies and managing change control procedures
  • Taking personal accountability for conducting cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and precise cost evaluations
  • Preparing monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting findings to clients
  • Contributing to value engineering initiatives
  • Negotiating and finalizing accounts
  • Collaborating with clients and other consultants throughout all project phases

Qualifications

Experience and Skills

  • A proven history of delivering high-quality cost management and quantity surveying services throughout the entire project lifecycle
  • Ideally, possess professional qualifications (RICS or equivalent)
  • Hold a degree or HNC level qualification
