Role Overview

Turner & Townsend is seeking a skilled Project Cost Consultant to join our Real Estate team in Newcastle. In this role, you will guide our clients and their professional teams on various exciting and landmark projects.

You should possess a genuine interest in understanding historical construction methods and their implications for contemporary contractors. Your daily interactions will involve collaborating with leading conservators, architects, and engineers to ensure optimal value for money for both clients and contractors, advising all parties on the best qualitative and commercial solutions.

We are looking for candidates with a strong interest in this field and a solid understanding of construction, whether from a Main Contracting or Quantity Surveying background, who demonstrate a collaborative and outgoing approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Commission Management, which includes:

  • Assisting with feasibility studies and drafting procurement reports
  • Estimating and cost planning, including the creation and presentation of the final cost plan
  • Managing the tendering and procurement process, including pre-qualification stages
  • Effectively addressing post-contract cost variances and overseeing change control processes
  • Taking personal responsibility for conducting cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and accurate cost assessments
  • Producing monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to clients
  • Contributing to value engineering initiatives
  • Negotiating and finalizing accounts
  • Collaborating with clients and other consultants throughout all project phases

Qualifications

Experience and Skills

  • A proven history of delivering high-quality cost management and quantity surveying services throughout the entire project lifecycle
  • Ideally, you should be professionally qualified (RICS or equivalent)
  • A degree or HNC level qualification is preferred
