Role Overview

If you are eager to expand your industry knowledge and advance your career in cost management, our North East team is on the lookout for seasoned Cost Managers aiming to elevate their careers to a senior level. You will be involved in a variety of leading infrastructure projects, and we will assist you in identifying the ideal position within transportation, utilities, and highways among our client portfolio.

As a Senior Cost Manager, you will engage in exciting projects while enhancing your operational and technical skills. Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivating amicable, professional, and suitable relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders involved in the projects and programs we support.
  • Managing a variety of contracts in alignment with project goals and policies.
  • Delivering precise project cost monitoring, forecasting, and reporting through to completion in accordance with budgetary constraints.
  • Actively overseeing and managing cost discrepancies and contract cash flow, ensuring that applications are submitted accurately and promptly.
  • Collaborating with client and contractor teams to oversee the delivery of project outputs, KPIs, and objectives, including program performance, cost management, and value engineering.
  • Effectively managing contract modifications to ensure projects adhere to governance and best practices.
  • Promoting enhancements in the precision of forecasts and budgets.
  • Providing sound commercial insights and support to all stakeholders proactively.
  • Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and settled.
  • Leading teams and commissions as required.

Required Qualifications:

Prior experience or a solid understanding of the following will be advantageous when applying for this position:

  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Contract Management (NEC3, Option C preferred)
  • Cost Management expertise
  • Change management and control proficiency
  • Valuation skills
  • Risk Management capabilities
  • Procurement knowledge
  • Estimating experience
  • Pricing strategies
  • Reporting abilities
  • Collaborative mindset and best-for-project approach
  • Sharing of best practices
  • People management skills
  • Commission management experience
  • Identifying and implementing efficiencies and improvements throughout the project lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of construction industry technical matters, including various procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
  • Ideally, a degree or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Ideally, hold or be pursuing membership in a relevant professional body or equivalent.
