Job Title: Cost Consultant - Automotive and Advanced Technology

At ENGINEERINGUK, we are seeking a highly skilled Cost Consultant to join our team. As a Cost Consultant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clients in the automotive and advanced technology sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct feasibility studies and advise on procurement strategies and contract selection.
  • Write and undertake procurement reports, applying value management techniques at the outset of a project.
  • Ensure that final accounts are negotiated and agreed, being a key interface with clients, stakeholders, and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Handle contractual frameworks and standard forms of contract, identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products, and services provided to clients.
Requirements:
  • Advocate of Mace's value of safety first, accountable for leading and maintaining exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and project compliance standards.
  • Technical expertise in local health and safety rules and regulations relevant to project portfolio.
  • Support cost planning, including ownership of and presenting cost plans to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the procurement process, ensuring stages including prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection, and contract preparation are performed effectively.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports.
  • Apply value management techniques at the outset of a project.
  • Manage estimating and cost planning activities, including taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Assist in procurement and selection of main contractor.
  • Advise on administration of the terms of the building contract.
  • Measure and provide valuations of the work carried out and adjust variations in accordance with the terms of the contract and agree with the contractor.
  • Provide cost control and reporting services during the contract.
  • Prepare financial reports for the client in the form and at the frequency required.
  • Identify all costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities, and client charges.
  • Participate in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by the contractor and any nominated subcontractors/suppliers.
  • Advise on the issue of certificates of practical completion and ensure that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
  • Provide informal mentoring/training to junior members of the team.
  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvements/improving working processes.
  • Work collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
