Modeller and Software Engineer for Marine Systems

Are you a talented professional looking for a new challenge? MPOWIR Mentoring Physical Oceanography Women to Increase Retention has an exciting opportunity for an ocean scientist to join our team.
This role is part of the SOLSTICE project, promoting ocean models for sustainable use of living marine resources in the Western Indian Ocean.
- Familiarity with Django and Python in operational mode
- Experience with web applications, Linux, MySQL, and system administration
- Development of web applications and database configuration
- Linux virtual machine system administration and web server deployment
- Customer-specified product development
- Version-controlled, well-documented, and easily maintained products
Numerical modelling or Earth Science project experience is highly desirable.
Frequent travel to the Western Indian Ocean is required.
This is a fixed-term appointment for three years, starting as soon as possible.
This is a full-time Band 6 position with a salary of £28,200 per annum and potential for salary uplift and/or additional allowances.
