Coastal Ocean Modelling Scientist Role

We seek a talented and enthusiastic ocean scientist model developer to join our vibrant Marine Systems Modelling group at the National Oceanography Centre in Liverpool. The successful candidate will work on keeping our ocean modelling capability at the leading edge, through developing, testing, and using the NEMO ocean model. The focus will be on all aspects of ocean physics pertinent to the coastal ocean in both regional and global configurations at high resolution.

The role involves developing their own scientific research direction in this context, publishing in appropriate high-impact journals, and seeking grant income. Collaboration with the UK Met Office and the international NEMO consortium is also expected.

This is a full-time permanent position offered on NERC terms and conditions, open to internal and external candidates. The starting salary is £28,200 to £30,600 per annum, with potential for Band 5 level (£35,222 to £38,254) based on substantial publication and grant capture experience.

We offer a competitive remuneration package, including a RCUK pension scheme, 30 days annual leave, and a flexi-time system. Opportunities for further training and development are actively supported.
